Impact Story: Kristopher McLucas

2020-21 Health Equity Scholar

Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Independent Consultant, Long Beach, California

  • Transitioned to working on new and continuing projects since completion of the HES Program, including clinical mental health services and serving as a consultant for the City of Long Beach and the Giffords Center for Violence Intervention.

    • Completed a needs assessment for the community in Uvalde, TX to identify community health gaps and resources to assist those directly and indirectly impacted by the Robb Elementary School mass shooting.

    • Recently, Kristopher became more significantly involved with consulting projects and related programming work that developed from his experience working as part of the YWCA Greater Los Angeles in California. 

  • Became more invested in program development, evaluation, and impact as part of his public health focused work

  • Completed an MPH during the HES program at Yale School of Public Health 

  • Currently working with his team on grants to support the development and implementation of mental health services and a community advisory board in Long Beach for formerly incarcerated community members in Long Beach. His team is also implementing retreats for disconnected transitional aged youth in Long Beach between 16-24 that focuses on soft skill development to facilitate their transition into the workforce.
